25 Years of Rock

The Rockersphere Story

Where It All Began

It started the way most great things do — two high school mates, a shared obsession with heavy music, and absolutely no idea what they were getting themselves into. Pete and Aaron were metalheads through and through, the kind of guys who'd argue for hours about the greatest guitar riff ever recorded and actually know what they were talking about.

Back in the early 2000s, the rock press felt like it belonged to someone else. Glossy magazines written by people who'd never stood in a mosh pit. Pete and Aaron decided to change that. They had the passion, they had the opinions, and they had enough mates in the industry to make some noise. So they did.

Rockersphere was born — raw, honest, and unapologetically loud.

The Moments That Defined Us

2000

The Beginning

Two high school mates with a love of metal and a dream of covering the bands they grew up worshipping. Rockersphere launches with nothing but passion and a dial-up connection.

2003

First Major Interview

Landing our first interview with a major act proved the doubters wrong. The rock world started paying attention.

2006

Photographing Metallica

One of the proudest moments in Rockersphere history — Pete and Aaron in the photo pit for Metallica. A bucket list moment that cemented our place in the industry.

2009

KISS & Mötley Crüe

Exclusive access to two of rock's most iconic acts in the same year. The legends welcomed us like old friends.

2013

Going Global

Rockersphere readership spreads across the globe. What started as two Aussie blokes having a crack was now reaching rock fans on every continent.

2025

25 Years Strong

A quarter century of reviews, interviews, photography and pure rock and roll. The site is back, the passion hasn't dimmed, and the music is louder than ever.

Pete & Aaron

Pete and Aaron never set out to build a media empire. They just wanted to write about the music they loved and get close to the bands that soundtracked their lives. Twenty-five years later, they've photographed legends, interviewed icons, and built a community of rock fans who feel exactly the same way.

The support from the rock community along the way has been incredible. From the bands who gave us their time, to the readers who kept coming back — Rockersphere has always been bigger than just two blokes from Australia.

Here's to the next 25 years. Turn it up.

From the Archives

One of the interviews we're most proud of — Pete and Aaron sit down with Max Cavalera of Sepultura. A legend, a genuine conversation, and proof that two blokes from Australia could hold their own with the greats.
